Good lord its been a wild 2 weeks.........barely had time to scratch my arse - but now I'm giving myself some time for ME ME ME!!!!

Someone had asked me a very very random question a couple of weeks ago - and it still makes me think.....

the question was "are you proud to be Australian??" - this question may seem like a average question to you....but have you really thought about it??



My answer to this question was what does it mean "are you proud"??? - and better yet what does it mean to "be Australian?"

I soon sat there and thought about this question (probably way too much) - but something about it annoyed me.


Why is it so important to feel proud that you belong to a country?
Why is it so important to feel proud that you belong to a religion?
Why is it so important to feel proud of being straight/Bisexual/Homosexual?

the list goes on and on and on.........



Sure - some people will disagree to this post - but it is so important to be a part of something?

I'm not proud to be Australian (that's right i said it) because i'm proud to be me..... who i am and nothing else.


Being proud of something has caused destruction to the world -

being proud of being Catholic
being proud of being Muslim
being proud of being Christian.......... and so on.......



Why cant everyone just accept each other for who they are? and stop the need to feel like they need to be a part of something else????

Haven't people realised that we are not clones of each other??


Why is it that an animal cant distinguish the difference between someone who practices Islam, and someone who practices Christianity?


Why is it that an animal cant distinguish the difference between someone who is homosexual and who is straight?


When are we going to realise that questions like "are you proud to be Australian?" construct hate.



What world do we want to live in?
What kind of world are we living in now?



As Socrates famously said
"i am not an Athenian or a Greek, but a citizen of the world"

Well......Hasnt DjMissUniv3rs3 had a wild weekend.....

Friday - was the LONGEST day of my life. I woke up in the morning and wasnt feeling too well - hence missing out on DAG day (but looks like everyone had a fantastic time!!!!! love the outfits!!!!!). So good to hear you had a some DjMissUniv3rs3 music playing in the background......YOU ROCK SYDHAPPYGUY! 

Then.....our AI-MEDIA WIP went for a wild ride - which took 3 hours to fix. (Breathing was very very important)!!!!!! 

and then MrUniv3rs3 had a hernia scare on friday night which resulted in 10hrs at the emergency ward at the RPA - which i would like to point that the EMERGENCY OPERATIONAL PROCEDURE NEEDS TO BE FIXED!!!!!!!!!! - No one gives two shits at the hospital. The amount of times we got misplaced and forgotten were AMAZING - i mean for fuck sake, get more fucken staff in that give a shit! I know that its hard and we have a fucked up hospital system but 10hrs in the emergency ward is INSANE!!! (please excuse my french) 

Anyway after 10hrs of HELL - we find out that its not a hernia but an infected gland. 

THANK THE LORD!!!!

So glad all of that it over!!!

I hope you've had a better weekend than i have.

on a happy note - i bought the very hot in demand Sass & Bide Black Rat Leggings - they are so fucken hot!!!!!! Cant believe i got my lucky paws on them!

Gen Y - Friend or Foe????

So i was thinking...........

I'm sick and tired of reading about Generation Y articles that baby boomers have written (no offence).

Its like reading "how to please your man" in cosmo by WOMEN!!!!!! How the hell would women know how to please a man?????

i mean am i stupid?? or is the best and simple to way to get rid of stereotypes and generalisations - to ask the source? meaning how about we ask a man "how they liked to be pleased??" in the same respect why dont we ask Generation Y - why they are the way they are???

So.....being a part of gen y, i thought i would clarify the stereotypes

***Gen y is defined in wikipedia (god bless it) as;

" is the generation following Generation X, especially people born in western culture from the early 1980s to the early 1990s. The generation is also alternatively defined as the children of the Baby Boomer generation"

Some things people may associate with Generation Y

***LAZY - which is a big one, not to put generation Y down but WE ARE........no use lying you can tell in our actions. Alot of gen y's have and still are being spoon fed!!!! The way to get gen y's to do anything is to STOP spoon feeding them!

***Have no respect - this is one stereotype i completely dont agree with. Gen Y value to be understood, accepted, respected and included - however saying that i do understand where people get this stereotype, because even though gen y value all these things, we have either small or no tolerance. To people that value them and respect them - gen y's will usually show same respect back.

*** Digitally aware - YES YES YES we are!!!! we love it!!! it consumes us!!!! and we constantly want MORE!!! Here are some interesting stats i got from wiki

97% own a computer
97% have downloaded music and other media using peer-to-peer file sharing
94% own a cell phone
76% use instant messaging and social networking sites
75% of college students have a Facebook account[16]
60% own some type of portable music and/or video device such as an iPod
49% regularly download music and other media using peer-to-peer file sharing
34% use websites as their primary source of news
28% author a blog and 44% read blogs
15% of IM users are logged on 24 hours a day/7 days a week

considering that 44% of gen y's read blogs, make sure you keep posting!!!!! ~ just keep blogging, just keep blogging, just keep blogging (singing along to "just keep swimming" from finding nemo)

More content - more viewers!!!!!! ~~~ gen y's worst fear is getting bored!!!!! (just thinking about me makes me squeal!!!)

*** Just weird/and confused - well i've heard this one so many times from my mum and my mums friends....... which i always reply "i am who i am - deal with it - cause i aint gonna change". Generation Y are proud of themselves whether dressed like an emo.

099 is back and better than ever!!!

So as you may know already, i just got back from Port Douglas - one of the most beautiful places on this earth!! We were very lucky to have 25 degree weather the whole week, and visited the Great Barrier Reef (where we saw whales), Daintree, Cape Tribulation, Cairns and Kuranda.

During my trip i learnt 3 IMPORTANT THINGS

- When you come close to a EMU, dont drop everything and run (for people who have never seen an emu up close, they are about 170cm tall), BREATH and walk away slowly. They are harmless.

- Everyone needs to think seriously about climate change!!! I want my granddaughter's to be able to see wonders such as the Great Barrier Reef!!!

- SLIP, SLOP, SLAP!!!!! Skin Safety is very important. We only have one go with our body - please take care of it!!!!!!!

Soooooo....one of my all time favourite designers just did the fall (couture) collection for Dior!!! As per usual it was BREATHTAKING!!!!!!! 

The collection was quirky - yet simple with a gothic twist......(i know it sounds weird but it looks AMAZING)

Australians tell a good story. And have been doing so for over 40,000 years. 
Now it is your turn.
Access Innovation Media and TAJ Productions jointly present an innovation in shared storytelling accessible to all:

“By bringing together the traditions and techniques of our aboriginal brothers and sisters – and combining them with the transformative power of the Internet, we have the power to build a bigger conversation for change we can believe in – on a global scale.”

These shared and interlinked stories will be hosted online in our new shared Digital Art Gallery - (DAG) - Difference As Great. All content will form part of the Digital Commons. 

The opening exhibition, Deaf Music, will showcase 888 commissioned “4-minute” stories from different people in different stages of life, from different parts of the world – and yet connected. The doors to DAG will open when the Olympic Flame is lit in Beijing on 08.08.08.

"U Got 4 Minutes to Save The World"

Must be a video submission themed "Deaf Music". All pieces will be captioned for people with a hearing impairment or for people for whom verbal English is not easily understood. We will also translate all pieces into a number of key international languages. For the blind and vision impaired we will describe the video (in a separate track) so these people get the benefit of the visual storytelling. 

The rules:

1. MUST be one take (from start to finish) – no editing – no fancy stuff. Just your own raw perspective.

2. Must be shot with the "music of your life" in the background. Your job is to convey visually what this music means to you so someone who is deaf will “get it”. This can be either through camera work, or dance or movement in front of the camera. 

3. Must be a visual story LINKED to at least one other story (you do this by collaboration). The link can be poetic.

4. Submissions must be received by 15 July 08. To submit, you must submit either to me or to your friend on Facebook who knows me.
